The
trip was awsome. It contained everything I wanted. I will be
posting an oddly written surf report in the next day or so. We got
waves and stories galore. Absolute blast!!!!!!!!!
The Annapolis Surf Club trip to Costa Rica was
a huge success in my book. So I have written a special "Thank You
Surf Report"
Thank you….
Robb Smith for getting the
ball rolling on the travel plans one year ago. Sorry you were unable to
attend.
Rod Rodgers for using his
translation skills to fully immerse us into the "real" Costa Rican culture
outside of town.
El Jardin Del Eden for providing
such posh accommodations to come back to after a hard day of searching
for surf.
"El Mono" the Tamarindo Pimp,
for providing such comic entertainment.
Buck-toothed Guaro Whore
that I'm still having nightmares about. We should have hooked her up with
the drooling man at the fiesta. They are perfect for each other.
Pico Pequeno for allowing
me to stall my board and get a few little cover ups and also for the 4
or 5 solo sessions provided at daybreak
Langosta reef for teaching
me a little lesson about respecting and understanding the reef. I
hope your fish enjoy the skin I left behind.
SR's for showing us that
the "Seek and you shall find" attitude can really pay off. I will
come back and surf you again!
Iguana that fell off the
roof and into the pool. Perfect breakfast entertainment.
Fish, sea snake, turtle,
crabs and crystal clear water that made the line up come to life while
waiting for sets.
Beth for putting up with
four mid-life crisis victims.
Banditos who were nice enough
to lock the car back up after stealing the binoculars and sun block…… enjoy.
Beach breaks that attracted
everyone, leaving the reefs crowd free.
Robert August Surf Shop for
losing the keys to the rental board cage when I wanted to rent that 10'6"
aircraft carrier for a relaxing evening session. Hope you stay in
biz fellas.
My 6'6" thruster who made
the trip ding free and helped me realize that I can ride a short board
again.
Pat "El Tuna" Hoge
for catching our last meal, especially since I was running out of money.
Alberto at the Bar Roxana
for teaching us the fine art of the Central American Air Guitar
Local surfer who
hooted at
me from the shoulder as I laid a big cutback at Pico one morning. There
is no better feeling. Of course I always gave him the bigger
wave in each set.
And finally a big THANK YOU
to the Costa Rican people in general. Your generosity and kindness
made this trip fun and enjoyable. My only regret is that I did not
study up on some common Spanish phrases to help the flow of communication.
Next time, I'll do better.
