Best
day of the trip! Many good waves... and it was oh, so good.
Bien y muy bueno. Again and again, very good. Caramba! The
trip is finishing so quickly.
Today we finally have a little
swell in the water. The three of us mostly spread out from near the
Sh*thouse (Dan) to the middle of Turtle Bay (JCV). I alternated between
both ends of the parking lot line-up zone, but mostly sticking near the
stream mouth where the fast, hollowing lefts would sneak through and where
I started catching rights that connected to nearly the south end of the
bay near the wall... long workable sections with a nice bowl or two along
the way to play. JCV was making a good wave count snaring one right
after another and seemed to be having a very good time, showing a smooth
style even if a little out in front of the curl... what the hell, there
was plenty of face to ride. Dan could be seen regularly tucking
in tight on the Shithouse curls, carving roundhouse turns back into the
face and coming out again. After a steady three hours of surfing
we were all smiles on shore. I think Joanne shot some more video
from today but the waves really started picking up after she paddled out...
just the same as the day before. I guess she is real picky about surfing
conditions :) I think most of her video was from the day before...
here it is... on
the road to Wilderness (warning: huge file - 20mb). There's also footage
from Crashboat Beach.

Meanwhile,
back at the ranch, a huge snowstorm is beginning to hit the Mid-Atlantic
and NE states. |
