I made this board a couple months ago & finally took it for a test ride yesterday (still having too much fun on my shed door paipo). This board is 44" long; 3/4" thick; tail 14"; nose 17.5". Rails are 50/50, w/ "top" & "bottom" flat. I left it unwaxed, and rode on top both sides during the test sessions. Waves were about 3-5 ft on the face w/ clean conditions. Hollow peaky waves at one spot & long, fast sandbar peelers at another. The board was fast in the barrel & connected sections w/ ease. I just wish it had some flex in it. Good small wave board or down the line cruiser for bigger days I think.

What did you finish it with?

If oil you could always let the coat weather a bit and then plane a little thickness from it to give it some more flex.

If you rode top and bottom, I'm guessing there is negligible rocker.

regards

Bob

^^ Yeah, there's no rocker on the board. You can ride equally well on top of either side. That was the intent. I read a commentary on museum alaia boards somewhere & the writer humorously speculated that the original owners rode a different side on alternate days. That was my inspiration. The board is actually just stained & varnished recycled plywood - that's why I didn't plane it..
