All,

Here's a project I have been working on:

http://home.brisnet.com.au/~bgreen/bgpage/

It's about belly boarding in Australia, however, there's lots of photos that may be of interest. It may never be finished because I keep adding to it.

regards

Bob

Great work Bob. Very interesting! Now I know what to look for when I raid Bob Smith's collection! javascript:emoticon('Laughing')

BJ,

Thanks.

Perhaps I should provide a list of tasks if you are going to visit Bob. Next time I visit I need to bring a tape measure and get the dimensions of his boards.

Last night I e-mailed Surf World as I had some questions about 2 or 3 of their boards.

Lots more to do. It's amazing what gets turned up when you start asking and looking.

regards

Bob

Bob,
Len Hedges was /is? a naval architect who specialised in ferrocement sailing craft. If still alive you may find him through a N.A. association/ institute.

He was remembered for building a few boggers though my memory of the type has failed me.

On one occasion he built a sailing surf dory and took off at 'nulla Point on a second reef day with Ray Ryan and Steve Cohen (Cronulla Point boardriders). The tube caught the sail and it was all over red rover.

He was always good for a laugh.

Hello Puurri,

Thanks. The Maritime Museum believe Len is deceased and thought his family had some of his plans but did not have a contact for them.

Besides surfing dinghies was Len a surfer? What sort of boards did he ride?

Can I take it that a bogger is a bellyboard?

regards

Bob

Yeah I think he did some on the body and bellyboards. David Payne at ANMM may have some stuff. He was certainly out there and caught our attention as he was "mainstream" though with an in your face attitude for whitebread Oz!

Puurri,

It was David who I contacted. Can you think of anyone who was one of his mates or knew him well?
