it is classic footage & well found. Stig had considered releasing this commercially, but now it's free for all to see. It was also released without any fanfare.

The surfers are Stig's father John Waidelich and Jim Growney, who John Clark interviewed:

Wow! Amazing footage. That brings up all kind of questions in my mind; The riding style - so bodysurfingish, the outrageous dropping in ( I don't even know if you could call it that) the awesomeness of Stig for sharing it. Wow. was there a rule back then - no less than 3 people on a wave? After seeing those guys bouncing around so much, it makes me wonder am I riding too heavily in my rails? Cause they were getting some speed. It answers one question for me though, I'd always wondered am I bouncing up as high as I feel like I am. I guess so.
Wow! again.

Kage,

At times it looked like they were making the boards bounce - or at least trying to get airborne. Something to explore with Jim.

Some of the conditions looked pretty wild & bumpy for a piece of play.

If you've not already seen it, have a look at this classic video from added by Bob Green on Youtube :

Loved the footage of the Stig video. Lot's of folks on the waves - guess they liked it like that back then, ha ha. Noticed the bounce and a lot of water pushing out in front of the boards. Part of the bounce is induced by the speed and hitting the cross chop that isn't so noticeable on a larger, heavier stand-up riding board that also benefits from one's knees as shock absorbers. I also thought there was a lot of water pushing out in front of the boards at times as the riders tried planing while forward on the boards, which probably featured a fair amount of scoop to the nose and to the rails from the centerline.

Nice job!
