I've seen one but other then that, can't tell you much.
It's real slick on both sides and is the same weight as a similar sized modern soft "bellyboard".
Tom Morey knows as much about hydrodynamics as anybody; I'm pretty sure it'll work.
Several years ago, after he'd sold the rights to his name to Mattel, he put out a soft bellyboard under the name, ESCA (Experimental Space Craft Apparatus?) for a very short time.
I had two of them and still have one.
For me, it's far superior to any of the other modern soft bellyboards.
Unfortunately the somewhat odd shape and graphics did not appeal to the masses and he quit making them.
It's a collectors item now.........
I suspect the "One" will end up the same way so you'd better get "one" while they are available.... |

The 148 BE on the board is the conversion of our year 1991 to the Bahai Faith Calendar. Tom had an ESCA board at Doheny yesterday. His had a black swirl bottom, and the leash was also removed on his. I didn't ask him what ESCA stood for, because I vaugely remembered that someone had posted about it here. But now that I look at the old post, it appears that Uncle Grumpy might have been guessing? |

That's what I think I remember being on the paper label under the wrapper when I first got it about 15 years ago... But it may not be quite right...
I met Morey at the Bahai center here in San Clemente several years back after I'd gone there to hear him speak and afterward we ended up having a nice chat about the ESCA. A few months later, I was getting out of the water with it under my arm and there's Morey sitting on the beach with a big grin on his face, he'd been watching me and of course knew what I was riding.
It's too bad they did not take off like the original booger....
It really is a superior tool/toy |
