Mike,

This board looks a bit narrower board than your others. Is that a workbench with the clamp or the start of board #2?

I think it lookes narrower because of the fish style tail also it is a bit longer then the ones of the past few boards. all out of wood for now. I just store my clamps a junk on the bench so when I am working I can get to it fast MRMIKE

MrMike, took it out in 6-10' santa cruz this past week. fast? freeking scary fast! i did experience a problem with it holding a line if it hit any chop. i kinda liked the "free flying" feeling but, it'd be great if i can figure out how to eliminate that. that and its want to pearl as its bouncing down the face. could adding a little to the length and a little "kick" in the nose be the answer? i dont want to add to much rocker as we all know, flat is fast but? any ideas would be a great help.

no concave at all? or just rocker? i think one of the reasons it doesnt hold as well as the i bought from you (i call it the chip) is that the concave isnt deep enough to create a fin, if you will, that is deep enough.

cool. i'm working on another one. i've got an old longboard blank. i'm going to try a little kick in the nose, full deep concave in the tail and fluted rails 4'6 and 23 wide. we'll see!

From looking at the first two pics I was left with the impression that there is no planing hull surface except for a small, wide bulge in the forward 1/3 of the board. The pics are probably not doing justice. The nose already appears to have some scoop to it on the order of 2 to 3 inches. The rear third also appears rather concave. My first inclination is to try a tri-hull in the rear two thirds of the board with the middle hull section also shaped as a slight v-hull. That should drive you right through the cross chop with stability.

thanks for the idea Rod. I'm shaping another one right now. basically its the same outline but with 2.5" kick in the nose (compared to what is almost an inch on the seafood platter), starts with a flat rocker but ends up with a couple of inches because i scoop out the concave which becomes rocker, if that makes sense. with a deeper concave and short flutes on the rails i'm hoping it gives it more bite in the face.

looks like i'll have to try another TRI-PLANE Hull version too! when you talk about the tri-plane hull are you referring to something like the wave arrow deal?

Board number #1 - it just has needs one more coat of oil. It has more than its share of imperfections. Hopefully is not too thin - I should be able to be test it next week.
