Mike,
Many thanks. I did pick up a few things.
1. I had been wondering how you cramped the tail/nose blocks,
2. I see you were pretty generous with the glue. I've bought epoxy glue, so probably need to do a bit more clean up before it dries.
3. About 8 clamps, top & bottom.
Do you have any tips about shaping the bottom? I've seen straight edges used to get an even thickness/bottom curve, but am interested in what approach you take to reduce the thickness. I was considering making marks on the bottom to guide the planing.
regards

I use pencil marks and a stright edge and my eye. I shape the bottom first then I thin the board from the top MRMIKE _________________ PAIPO ON

Mike,
Thanks. Feel free to say no - at some stage I'd be interested to see your system of pencil marks. I was reading a book that recommended a grid system, but this was for surfboards where the rails are more complex.
My alaia is fairly flat. just a bit of roll in the deck - I would taken the thickness out of the bottom, so good to know you take a bit off the deck as well. If you think of it sometime, I'd be interested to see a pic of the shaped bottom before you start on the deck.
regards
