Great job on the BB Rod! Here's a preview of a photo I'll be using in an upcoming article. Taken at Point Panic back in the mid-80s.

Yep. Probably plywood with a couple of coats of marine varnish. That's how we used to make em. Nowadays got some neat stuff. I know a guy who puts together these balsa blocks (2\"x2\") and creates a board from that. I'm going to be writing a story on alternative surf methods and will publish the link next month. _________________ neosponge
