Thanks go to Roger Wayland, who rides a beyond eccentric collection of homemade and collected surfcraft in prime OC territory with apparently enough soul to move a standup surfer in the crowd to not only fish the Newport out of the rafters but loan it to Roger for photos and templating.
Roger wrote me this morning that he made a wood (probably plywood) version of the Concave Vector and rode it over the weekend, with neutral or probably negative bouyancy...so much fun he's going to run one out of conventional materials. |

Sheet foam, man. Run it through a table saw, stick in a glue line to give it some rocker and then attack it with a bandsaw and sur-form the puppie to shape. Coupla barely foiled slabs of fiberglass to make keel fins and there you are. |

Hell, I need the foam... given a sheet of that, I've got a shop full of tools to whip it on out.
By the way, Nels, I stumbled across your Sustainability page - very good.
( http://vagabondsurf.com/SustainabilityHome.html ) Been working on a few similar things myself - solar-heated outdoor shower/water heater for northern climates ( for less than a plastic-bag Sun Shower would cost) and some very on-the-cheap greenhouse ideas of conduit tubing and clear builder's plastic, plus a little wood and of course, the handyman's friend, Duct Tape. |
