I scored a decent stack of plywood this morning curbside on the way to work! It seems to be "vintage" stuff, i.e. better quality, thicker laminates than what I find at retail these days.
More importantly, it's all good sizes and seems like it wants to float, so by gum it will! Looks like I'm gonna be busy!
I decided to come up with a trademark for my boards. In honor of the "locals" at most of the beaches here, I took on the name Asanagoo Boardcraft. Asanagoo is an Ojibwe word for "black squirrel". I guess seagulls are the more abundant locals, but I'm not naming my boards after those chumps! _________________ maamaangashkaa!! |

Cool! Kinda looks like a Pokemon, but I like it. I wish my local squirrels spent more time paipo boarding than cleaning out my fruit trees. |

If you don't have approval from the TOs then you're taking a chance. |

Do you mean Tribal Organizations? Indeed, I have put quite a bit of thought into this. Before I get too far along with this (as far as selling boards, etc), I am definitely planning to submit a formal request, along with a statement of intent. I want to make it clear that I'm not trying to capitalize on Native American culture and will not use any other Native imagery in my branding strategy. By using one of their words, I'm only paying homage to the original watermen / women of my region. If I get declined, I will just call it "Black Squirrel Boardcraft" even though it's not as original, and keep the logo. _________________ maamaangashkaa!! |
