Last summer in Colorado I was introduced to riding the rapids on a boogie board. The boards were strapped to the kayaks and flippers stowed in the hull. We'd park in the eddies at the base of a rapid and kick into the standing waves. The dynamics are different and the first time or two I played it like an ocean wave, riding forward and WHAM - nose down and worked by the river. I got the hang of it and was able to spend a few minutes in the wave, even throwing out a few 360s. It's a rush, and highly recommended water activity.
Those Ripboard water craft are VERY cool! |
