I used to live across the bay from where this kid got bit. That area is pretty sharky.

There's a river mouth about a half a mile away and a deep water channel going out to the open sea right next to the break. When it rains the water can get a little turbid and the channel gives offshore sharks easy access to the shoreline.Its the pelagic sharks (usually Tigers) that you have to look out for, most shark attacks around here are by offshore sharks.

It's been raining for a while here and there was a pretty big swell running. I wouldn't have gone out, at least not there.
