PNG is at the of my list of places to go. I've heard the surf is gnarly and the reefs are sharp! I'll look for that kid.

Ted,
I've read a few articles on PNG. Seems like the surf can be well shaped but nowhere like Indonesian or Hawaiian surf - size wise. PNG itself has a serious crime problem. My wife did a brief trip there for work and was issued a walkie-talkie, not allowed out of the hotel compound and while there, the Police chief was mugged while jogging. I believe once out of Port Moresby the scene is different (barring tribal warfare).
New Ireland area is where the surf I've read about can be found. A different world to the urban crime scene.
