ok,
beginner question for anyone--"how do you lay up or join together planks of wood to make the non ply boards that I see on this forum--is it just glue and clamps? or is there a stronger way to do it? is it stronger to glue and clamp 2 wide planks together or to glue and clamp several narrower pieces to make the same width blank?

Flojo,

Depends what you mean by wide. My latest project is a 22" blank, which is 5 pieces of paulownia wide.
