|
|
Anyone got any tips for planing wood with a few hard knots? At the moment I just take my time over them with a sharp hand plane - I've had a few messy situations in the past when passing over them with my power tools.
Any tips or hints would be great.

what I do is epoxi all the knots before I start. this makes it easer to work it also stabilize the knots and wood around it

Does this require RR epoxy or something similar or will 10 minute kind of stuff work? Too thick, maybe thin it with a few drops of IPA?
Just ordered Western Cedar should get it next week. |

THE TWO PART STUFF THIN WORKS BEST ANY BRAND WILL WORK. GO TO THE BOAT STORE THEY CAN SHOW YOU THE THIN STUFF . I USE EPOXY FROM A BOAT BUILDER HERE IN SAN DIEGO, IT HAS NO NAME ON THE JUGS. HE TAKES IT OUT OF A 55GAL DRUM FOR ME. DON'T USE THE STUFF THAT COMES IN TUBES NEVER SETS UP HARD. _________________ PAIPO ON

Thanks Mike. There is a lot of 5 minute and 10 minute in tubes but they are "2 part". They are built as sort of double chambered syringes attached side by side so the plungers go both at once and squeeze out equal amounts from each tube and you then mix. Are those the ones you mean to avoid? |
