Hello Rod,
I took your advice and looked into Carcan Plage. Found a great beach house. However, our dates didn't fit their schedule (I was going to pay for a few days I wasn't going to be there and leave before the time I wanted to stay to) - the clincher was the bond, which might not have been repaid until we were back home, and it was a large bond.
We will be staying just a bit south of Lacanau. Now if only I can work out how to freight my paipo. Have ordered a mat but really want to ride my paipo. Surffoils has been working on a compsand paipo, which I was considering taking - but even if all goes well, it would not be ready until June.

Here is the quote from Mike Stewart I was referring to:
"Recently I have ridden air mats and I own and ride occasionally a Paipo from Paipo designs. Check out Paipo.com. I find it really useful to learn how these boards ride and what makes them work. Don't think that bodyboards have no history like fishes and tanks for surfers. Paipo is the oldest form of board riding." -Mike Stewart

It'll be very interesting to see how his work with Tom Wegener unfolds! |

From TW's website:
There is no place like Oahu’s North Shore. In this photo of Mike Stewart you can see through the backyard to the beach out front. It is a sweet place where these backyards ramble down to the sand, leading to some of the most perfect breaks in the world. The salt-air, the trade winds and the sound of breaking waves combine to create a powerful atmosphere, both invigorating and soothing at once. We are currently working with Mike in the very exciting, early stages, of producing a Mike Stewart model alaia. As this project develops we will keep you informed…
Alaia's for the masses! |
