I wanted to make a paipo with a plank of pine wood and I finaly found a part of a piece of furniture that someone had thrown.
I kept as much material as possible because the plank was small (at least compared to the paipos I saw on the internet). The is board is 18.9" X 33.4"
It still needs some layers of varnish and a bit of deco.

During my holidays at the end of june I could test the paipo in different conditions from windless 1-2 ft the fist time to quite strong onshore 5 ft the last time.
It takes off suprisingly well when you hold the board in front of you and do not put too much weight on it due to its low floatation. Of course duck diving is very easy.
After the take off you can stand a bit more forward but not too much because the board is quite short.
I would prefer it to be longer (and/or wider ?), at least as long as a bodyboard. I have the feeling that a large part of my body drags in the water. Nevertheless I was happy with the speed it could go.
The board turns well but the waves were not juicy enough to try some some big (bottom) turns.

Now I have to make and try something that can plane better.

Thanks to you guys for inspiring me the will to try a wood paipo ! Very Happy
