I came across this cool clip the other day. Sorry if this has been posted on this site before (I searched the message board and didn't find it). This is Val Ching stand up riding his paipo at Waikiki Wall, 1963. Cool

If I'm not mistaken that is a certain beach in S.C. which features lots of doggy woggies that will bite your feet if you are skimboarding.
Aside from that - tray surfing! The blue collar paipo. Or greasy spoon paipo. Or something. I used to keep an old brown tray in my trunk, I should get a new one. Fun.

Many thanks for the link. Gerry Lopez is one of my all-time surf heroes. It was good to hear him talk and reminisce about those early days.

And yes, that is a totally sick paipo shot at the end. It was cool to hear the paipo riders and bodysurfers acknowledged respectfully.

Check this out for some original paipo action...

It's about roughly 6 minutes in but the whole thing is kind of a hoot...

Nels,

This was a classic. The technique was interesting - not just the superman arms but the sheer planning speed. It is a shame that all these brief snippets from different films couldn't be put together.

Keep em coming.
