Hope the seemingly endless high pressure has been treating you well. My question is regarding a cheap 7'4" waveski I noticed for sale in the area. Of all the craft I've paddled, I've never used one of these. Ideally, I would like to gouge out knee wells and use a canoe paddle for propulsion. Do you think 7'4" is too short for this application?

Sorry for posting this here, but I no longer have your email address.

You bet it is. Woobly too, and slow. If you decide to go with it anyway, try dropping the seat, for a lower center of gravity. Most likely, your going to be dealing with epoxy, and polystyrene, so head off to Swaylocks fer an education on such matters... Been hanging high in the pocket at Hobuck on the 42` belly rocket. Even gaining lift from the UDTs!

Thanks for the reply, salty sage. I guess I figured as much. With another child due any day, I am looking ways to cut corners in vessel construction. I cannot let go of the kneeboard/C-1 concept, but neither can I muster the energy to see it through to its proper completion. I'll pass on the ski and do it from scratch at a later date.

How about a modified windsurfer as a kneelo paddle craft.? Ever try that? Some old windsurfers can be very inexspensive or even free.

Hello Poobah and Swordie,

Yes, I have had my feelers out for old windcraft for some time. As of yet, however, none have been found at my price-point...free.

Thanks for sharing your creation, Swordie. My proximity to many lakes and bays makes a board like yours even more sensible. Looks like much fun.

Hey Poobah, my two year old can reliably select my paipos from a litter of old logboards and kneeboards. When asked about surfing, he proudly proclaims that he will ride a paipo board. Hope to get him in the water this summer.
