my boards are 9mm out of decent grade marine ply, 48 x 12 tapering to 11. the flex is lovely. but then 9mm in birch ply is way stiffer and a load heavier. |

i did an experiment a month or so back, i bent a board with a very abrupt nose then surfed it back to back with a flatter rocker version. the steep nose was horrible, harder to catch waves (i believe ... |

just to further make the point how simple it can be, i've just come back from the beach with my kids and my 8yr old took out a board he made himself from a bit of scrap 9mm exterior ply that was left ... |

betjeman holidayed at trebetherick which is just above daymar bay. daymar is a bit sheltered (you can google earth it) and polzeath, just above, more exposed so its highly likely thats the beach.
